Defender Signs For Bairns

The Club has confirmed the signing of 23-year-old central defender Chris Smith on a one-year deal. Smith played 43 times for Ayr United last season and was impressive in their back four.

The 6-foot plus centre-back began his football career at the Academies of Partick Thistle and Rangers before signing for Greenock Morton in 2008. He moved to Dumbarton the following season then joined Ayr United at the beginning of the last campaign.

Steven Pressley was delighted with his fourth signing of the close season and told the official website, “I felt we were a wee bit short of personnel in central defence and to get a quality defender like Chris into the squad has been a great piece of business.”
