Ryan was one of the first players signed up at Academy level by Eddie May but it wasn't long before his prodigious ability saw him attract the attention of English giants and then European Champions Liverpool. A move to Anfield followed and the chance to train alongside superstars like Steven Gerrard has clearly done him the world of good. Highly rated by the Liverpool management Ryan helped the club win two successive FA Youth Cups. Indeed he scored the winner in the 2007 final against a star-studded Manchester City side. To accelerate his progress Ryan was loaned to Wrexham and he could not have asked for a better start scoring on his first-team debut. He added three further strikes in 24 appearances. This summer Falkirk swooped to take him back home on loan and he repaid Eddie May's faith with the club's first ever European goal in the first leg Europa League qualifier against Vaduz.
