The Bairns welcome Alloa Athletic to The Falkirk Stadium tomorrow afternoon for a crucial match in the battle to avoid the drop.
Falkirk approach the match having only lost once in the last 12, while Alloa are coming off the back of a 1-0 win over league leaders Ross County last weekend.
Bairns boss, Ray McKinnon met the press at The Falkirk Stadium earlier this afternoon to preview the clash and here’s what he had to say…
On tomorrow’s match…
“It’s a big game, we’re at home and in good form, we’ve said that since the start of the year so it’s a game we’re going into with confidence and a game we’re going into to win. We approach every game in that way, it is what it is and it’ll be two teams fighting it out. The bottom six in the league are all playing each other this week so it’s a big weekend for everyone in the Championship.”
On the last two matches…
“It’s been easy to take positives from Tuesday’s performance, it wasn’t at the time, but on reflection we’ve been away from home for the last two weeks, we were up to Inverness and got a good point up there and then we were down to Queen of the South and won a good point – we have to look at it that way. It just feels worse because of the circumstances surrounding Tuesday’s game. As I have said before we can’t focus on anyone else, we just need to keep looking at what we’re doing. We’ve done that since the start of the year and had one defeat in 12 and four in our last 20 in the league, we’ve got a good squad, they’re going well and as you’ve seen this year there can be some crazy moments and results in this league.”
On this week’s key messages…
“We’re trying to reinforce to the players that we are a good side, as good as anyone in this league when we are at our absolute best and we need to be at our best between now and the end of the season. To give the players credit, they have been magnificent since the turn of the year. This group we have got now have been great, to go one defeat in 12 and only against the league leaders is impressive. We just need to go and work as hard as possible now.”
On the approach for tomorrow’s match…
“I just try to look at each game and work out how to win the game. We have an idea of how we want to play tomorrow to win the game and hopefully we can execute it. Alloa are a good side, they make it difficult for every team they play and they haven’t been turned over by anyone. Davis Keillor Dunn is the only player missing through suspension, everyone else is fit and ready to go.”
On the Falkirk fans…
“We just hope that everyone comes along and enjoys the game tomorrow, the Falkirk fans have been brilliant. The numbers they have been turning out in has been so impressive. Hopefully the same happens again tomorrow. I saw that we had the 12th highest attendance in Scotland and that’s impressive. They’ve been great, the traveling support we had at Inverness and Dumfries has been magnificent and the players have responded. It’s going to be a tough ride out for everyone, but if we keep performing and working hard we’ll give ourselves every chance.”
