Our official Remembrance Match will take place this Saturday as Airdrieonians visit The Falkirk Stadium.

As a club we are extremely proud of our ongoing relationship with Legion Scotland and Poppy Scotland. This partnership strengthens year on year and it was a pleasure to welcome members of the Grangemouth and Edinburgh Branches of Legion Scotland to The Falkirk Stadium last week to celebrate this.

On Saturday we will be issuing free match tickets to all veterans who wish to attend the game as well as local and national cadets. They will also all be given a voucher for a pie and hot drink on the day.

As per previous years, we will hold a pre-match tribute with Legion Scotland members and Standard Bearers on the pitch with our players who will wear special edition Poppy Strips to be auctioned post match.

There will be a special edition match day programme as well as a can collection on the day for Poppy Scotland.

Over the year ahead the club will be working very closely on a number of worthwhile initiatives with Legion Scotland and Poppy Scotland, including Comradeship Events in the Behind The Goals Community Space and Gym, use of The Falkirk Stadium for charity events and an invite to breakfast with our players and first team staff.

Dr Claire Armstrong, Chief Executive of The Royal British Legion Scotland, said:  “Legion Scotland are delighted to be continuing in our partnership with Falkirk FC.

“We are very grateful for their interest and support for the veteran’s community and their work throughout the year to support Legion Scotland initiatives and to help raise funds for the Scottish Poppy Appeal. The Remembrance Match has become part of the calendar of events for us and the football club and we are privileged to be invited to attend today and to have our members and Standard Bearers on the pitch with the players.

“We look forward to developing the partnership into 2020 and beyond and have lots of exciting plans in the pipeline.”

Kieran Koszary, Falkirk FC Commercial Director, added: “We are honoured to once again celebrate our partnership with Legion Scotland and Poppy Scotland who have both become firm friends of the club over the last few years.

“We look forward to welcoming numerous groups as guests of the club on Saturday for our official Remembrance Match in what has become an integral part of our events calendar.  Over the next 12 months we will be launching various events and concepts to support and also thank the veterans community.”
