We are delighted to announce that this Saturday will be Falkirk Football Clubs second annual official JDRF awareness day.
A bucket collection will be taken before Saturday’s match against Peterhead and JDRF representatives will be ready to supply you with any additional information inside the stadium as we support our Charity Partners, who have also been invited to the game as match sponsors.
JDRF fund research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes to achieve the goal of creating a world without the metabolic disorder. By working with government, academia and industry to accelerate research in the UK and operating within healthcare policy they ensure that the outcomes of research are delivered to people with type 1 in the UK. JDRF also give support and a voice to people with type 1 diabetes, of which there are currently 400,000 in the UK, over 29,000 children, and their families.
We are looking for additional support to assist with the charity collection. Could any supporters able to help please meet in front of the club shop at 2PM ahead of Saturday’s game.
Craig Martin, a Falkirk FC season ticket holder whose son Michael has type 1 diabetes and who got involved with JDRF through the club’s partnership, spoke about the charity:
“When Michael was first diagnosed, we quickly realised we knew nothing about type 1 diabetes. That is where JDRF was incredible, along with the NHS, producing help guides and support. Not to mention the Rufus teddy bear that was a great comfort to a 5-year-old who was getting 6 injections a day. Rufus is still a favourite to this day”
“JDRF do amazing research into making kids with type 1 lives easier. It is hard to imagine being a child that needs to be careful about everything they eat and drink. Knowing that if they miscalculate the amount of insulin to inject may cause them more harm than good. That is why the research that JDRF is doing to make type 1 kids have as normal an upbringing as possible is so important.”
Kieran Koszary, Commercial Director at Falkirk FC, added:
“We are looking forward to welcoming our friends from JDRF to our second JDRF awareness day at The Falkirk Stadium. This partnership has grown from strength to strength over the last 12 months and we are delighted to be able to support the fantastic work JDRF carry out. The fact that we have now highlighted their work to Falkirk fans who have children living with this condition is extremely heart-warming for all concerned.
