Falkirk FC and Verifer are delighted to announce Erin Rooney and her ICU colleagues are our Local Hero winners for April.

Former Falkirk Academy Ladies player Erin and her colleagues work tirelessly in the Intensive Care unit at Forth Valley Royal Hospital and have been dealing directly with Covid-19 patients for the last four weeks under extremely difficult circumstances. Going above and beyond what is expected of her, Erin arranged to collect donations of hygiene products, snacks, and personal items from the local community for her patients in the ICU, who are not allowed visitors and have nobody to supply them with the essentials.

Erin, who was nominated by her partner Jack Wilson, has been overwhelmed by the support of friends, family, and strangers who have donated. She is doing her best to provide care for the people who need it most while trying to keep a smile on her face.

The club presented Erin with a VIP Boardroom experience for when the football is back and gift vouchers for her favourite restaurant, Cafe Corvina. Erin’s colleagues in the ICU also received free tickets to see The Bairns in action as a thank you for all their hard work.

Commercial Director Kieran Koszary said: “It was an honour to present Erin with this award which recognises the fantastic work she and her colleagues are doing during these unprecedented times. On behalf of the club I would like to thank Erin and all the staff at Forth Valley Royal Hospital, we are all extremely proud of them.”

Stuart Comrie of Verifier Security Systems added: “A massive well done to Erin for being nominated and indeed selected for our Local Hero of the Month award in conjunction with Falkirk Football Club. Going beyond her day to day duties and collecting personal items for her patients is what makes Erin and her colleagues our Local Heroes.”

With our partners Verifier, we will be naming a Local Hero of the Month every month while the football is off. This could be anyone going above and beyond in these tough times in whatever way they can. The winner will be presented with a special prize for the efforts.

If you would like to nominate somebody for May’s award, you can submit your nomination by email to and include your hero’s name, and a short description of how they have impacted their local community.
