Falkirk Football Club would like to take the opportunity to thank all supporters who took out our FFC Top Up alongside their season ticket. The extra money raised was split between the club and Strathcarron Hospice, Falkirk Football Club’s Official Charity Partners.
On Friday Commercial Director Kieran Koszary presented Claire Macdonald, Business Development Fundraiser at Strathcarron, with the £7,500 raised by the Falkirk fans through their season ticket purchases.
Every year, Strathcarron provides care and support to over 1,400 people with a life-limiting illness or condition, at a time when both they and their family need it most. The Hospice’s philosophy is about living until you die, and Strathcarron ensure people have every opportunity to achieve their goals right up until the last moment.
The last seven months have been difficult for everyone, but Strathcarron Hospice has been on the frontline during the pandemic, both caring for people with Covid and continuing to care for people dying from other conditions. The pandemic has had a devastating effect on fundraising income with every single event cancelled, yet the need for the care they provide is only increasing.
Claire Macdonald, Business Development Fundraiser at Strathcarron, said:
“During the COVID-19 crisis, our priority has remained to provide specialist care for local people living with, and dying from, a terminal illness. In these past seven months, we have adapted and extended our core services to include more support for people at home and in the community, and our in-patient unit has always remained open.
The money raised by FFC fans, topped up by the Club, can pay for 24 hours of specialist care, love and support, for 16 people in our in-patient unit. This really will make a difference to local people when they need it most, and the money will help us to care for not only our patients but their families too. Families like Susan’s:
‘I can’t say thanks enough to Strathcarron Hospice for their kind and compassionate care towards my mum. The team allowed her to maintain her dignity and remain as comfortable as possible over her last days of life. It was the most heart-breaking time of our lives but the staff at Strathcarron made it that bit easier with their care, attention and sympathy. We could not have asked for more.’
We are so grateful for the continued support of FFC and its fans. Thank you for helping us continue to care for all those who need us”
Kieran Koszsary, Commercial Director at Falkirk, added:
“Strathcarron Hospice are an absolutely amazing charity that do vital work in the local area, and anytime we can help support them we jump at the opportunity. Falkirk Football Club is extremely proud to be associated with Strathcarron and I am delighted to be able to present this money on behalf of the club and its supporters.
The Falkirk fans have shown their generosity and community spirit throughout the pandemic and I can only thank them once again for their tremendous support.”
