Falkirk have the chance to go seven points clear of title hopefuls Partick Thistle just three weeks into the new season. Falkirk travel to Firhill this Saturday in a clash that could potentially see The Bairns go top of the league with a win, depending on results elsewhere.
Partick Thistle have been tipped as one of the favourites for promotion this season following their relegation from the Championship in circumstances that none would consider ideal.
Falkirk look to be their main title rivals this season after also suffering a disappointing end to last season as the Covid-19 pandemic resulted in The Bairns finishing second in the league with eight games left unplayed.
Despite being favourites to go up Partick haven’t enjoyed a start to the season fitting of projected champions. It’s early days but they have already been bested by League One newcomers Cove Rangers, who sit top of the table, thanks to an injury time winner from Rory McAllister. The Jags also came up short against Clyde, their only win so far coming against Airdrieonians.
Falkirk remain unbeaten since the return of league football having taken all three points from Montrose and East Fife in the opening three weeks, but sit two points behind Paul Hartley’s Cove Rangers after being held to a draw by Forfar.
The two clubs haven’t met since 2018/19 when both were still in the Championship. There wasn’t much to separate the sides over the course of that campaign with three out of the four games finishing one each draws, with Partick just edging the fourth by two goals to one.
Both clubs go into Tomorrow’s game with a point to prove, both wanting to show that they deserve be in the Championship.
