Falkirk Football Club have today launched a special annual initiative to commemorate the life of Bairns who are sadly no longer with us.
In advance of our fixture with Montrose on 16 January 2021, players, staff and supporters will be taking a moment to remember the lives of members of the Falkirk family who have passed away in 2020.
Prior to the game a list of departed supporters will be read out on the Stadium PA system and displayed across Falkirk TV to remember and celebrate the lives of beloved friends, family and fellow supporters. A moment of silence will also be observed prior to kick-off.
We will also be installing a memorial at the South Stand, where the names of Falkirk fans that have passed away will be displayed, giving a permanent location of remembrance at The Falkirk Stadium.
Falkirk FC Director Kieran Koszary said: “At the end of what has been a difficult year we want to take a moment to reflect on our friends and family who have passed away, many of whom hold a special place in our hearts in a football context. It may be close family members, or it may be those individuals who you’ve celebrated with and commiserated alongside in the stands or on the terraces over the years. Each of those individuals holds a special place in Falkirk’s history and we want to offer you the opportunity, alongside us, to pay your respect to fellow Bairns.
“As you might imagine the club regretfully receives news about the passing of supporters and former players on a regular basis and whilst it’s difficult to recognise each individually – we will hold this annual event as an opportunity to commemorate our friends and family.”
Anyone wishing to pass across the name of a friend or loved one who has passed away in 2020 is urged to contact memories@falkirkfc.co.uk by Saturday 9th January.
