Falkirk FC and Verifier are delighted to announce our Local Hero of the Month for January is the fantastic team of Beaver, Cub and Scout Leaders in the 16th Laurieston Scout Group!

During a time when where face to face meetings with young people cannot take place the local Leaders have stepped up their game and adapted their programmes to online delivery and ensured that the young people can all join in by putting together activity pack and sending them out.

At Falkirk FC we recognize the normality something such as scouting can bring can have an extremely positive effect on the mental and social health of the young people. They can be themselves and interact with their friends in a non-school environment, which can be so difficult in the current climate.

All of this of course is being done by these leaders who also have their own work and family commitments as well has any other added pressure via the COVID-19 pandemic, making them very worthy winners of January’s Local Hero of the Month Award!

Kieran Koszary, Commercial Director at Falkirk FC, said: “On behalf of the club I would like to congratulate the team of Beaver, Cub and Scout Leaders in the 16th Laurieston Scout Group, and commend them on their fantastic work over the last month. As a club we are fully aware of the many challenges facing young people at this time, and for these individuals to sacrifice their own time to support dozens of young people is a tremendous gesture. We look forward to thanking them in person when we invite them to hospitality!”

Stuart Comrie of Verifier added: “Verifier Security Systems in Tandem with our Partners Falkirk Football Club are delighted to see the award go to The Lauriston Beaver, Cub and Scout Leaders. In these uncertain times, keeping fellowship going with our youth is paramount, especially when most youths are in a non-school environment due to COVID-19. A massive well done to all concerned!”
