Tomorrow is awareness day for our charity partner JDRF.
JDRF, our match sponsor for tomorrow’s game, is the world’s leading type 1 diabetes charity, funding research to cure, treat and prevent type 1 diabetes and providing information and support for everyone living with the condition, at all stages from diagnosis and beyond. Over 400,000 people in the UK live with type 1 diabetes, 33,000 of them in Scotland.
JDRF began life in the 1970s, when a group of parents came together to make a better life for their children with type 1 and it now has offices all over the world – the USA, Canada, Australia, Israel, the Netherlands and of course the UK.
Since JDRF was founded it has funded over 2 billion pounds-worth of research into type 1, funding the best research wherever it takes place in the world, and is currently supporting over 400 research projects and 50 clinical trials, including here in Scotland.
The past two years have proved particularly challenging for JDRF, with the closure of research labs and an enormous drop in fundraising income, so please dig deep and support JDRF here today or you can also make a donation via the charity’s website www.jdrf.org.uk. There is also information on the charity in today’s programme and JDRF staff and volunteers in the concourse.
