NEWS

A number of changes within Falkirk Football Club’s non-football staff have occurred over recent weeks. The club wishes to take this opportunity to update supporters, shareholders and partners about these changes.

Sammy McGivern has left his role within the commercial department as Commercial Executive. Sammy was delighted to join the club he played for and supports last summer, in what was a new role and a significant change of role for him. After 10 months of hard work and long commuting from Ayrshire, Sammy decided to return to his previous industry, finishing up at the club today.

Jacqueline Galbraith also joined the club last summer, after previously being involved in the club as the bar manager for Behind the Goals. Jacq brought an energy and passion to the role of Retail Manager, making a positive difference to the club’s retail service, whilst continuing to run our match day supporters bar, delivering excellent customer service. Jacq was head hunted by a local retail business and has finished up in the role.

Sharon McGuire, a long serving, committed and loyal Commercial Executive has also handed her notice in after 15 years at Falkirk FC. Sharon has been instrumental in developing our hospitality offering, as well as playing an important role within the events function of the club. Sharon also helped develop relationships with local companies through advertising and sponsorship. Sharon will leave the club in the middle of May.

All 3 individuals have contributed positively to the club in many ways and over many years. Each individual has a great affinity and connection to our club and leave Falkirk FC with the very best wishes of everyone. We are sure Falkirk supporters throughout the world are grateful for the contribution each individual has made to our club and join us in wishing them good luck for the future in their careers.

Staffing restructure

Following on from the club wide review which took place from January-March and after the recent staffing departures, the non-football staff structure will be changing with immediate effect.

  • The club is soon to appoint a new Commercial Manager to replace Sammy McGivern
  • Laura Craig, previously Ticketing Manager, will take on the new role of Supporter Services Manager
  • Two Commercial Executives will be recruited imminently to replace Jacqueline and Sharon
  • One role will focus on advertising and sponsorship, working under the Commercial Manager
  • One role will focus on supporter services which include ticketing, hospitality and retail, working under Laura
  • Andrew Macleod, who currently works 10 hours per week within our Media Team, will join the club 3 days per week after finishing university, enabling the club to enhance its media and communications
  • The club is also on the lookout for a new bar manager for our match day supporters bar, ‘Behind the Goals’. Interest parties should contact the club.

Both Commercial Executive roles will be advertised immediately with the aim of recruiting the most suitable individuals in advance of the new season, hopefully allowing for limited disruption to supporters and partners services.

The new structure provides more cohesion and collaborative working than the current structure. Each department will operate with a small team of staff and volunteers, making it possible to give their full attention to that department whilst working collectively with all other departments within the club. The new structure also allows for succession planning and provides a pathway for individuals to develop their skills and grow as the club grows which did not exist before.

Naturally, the club is disappointed to be losing good people, however it must now look to the future and find the very best people to join our club. The restructure and recruitment of new people comes at a vital time in the club’s history and represents an opportunity to help rebuild our club, with each new member of staff having a key role to play in the future of Falkirk FC.

The club will introduce each new staff member as soon as it is possible to do so. In the meantime, the club will continue to make preparations for next season and our future, with further announcements due over the coming weeks.
