Airdrieonians started the new League One campaign with high expectations after narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship last season, having lost to Queen’s Park in the Play-off Final. However, with a new Player Manager in Rhys McCabe following Ian Murray’s departure to Raith Rovers, and a number of new faces in the squad, The Diamonds kicked their new season off with a win, beating Peterhead by two goals to nil.

The Bairns carried their competitive unbeaten run into the new season but could only manage a draw on the opening weekend as they battled it out with Montrose in a goalless affair. Falkirk will be looking to end a run of three straight defeats against Airdrieonians to put more points on the board in what looks to be a difficult first month of fixtures.
