MATCH DAY GUIDE: DUNDEE V FALKIRK

The Bairns take a break from the league this week as we take on Dundee in the next round of the Premier Sports Cup.

Kick off is at 7:45pm, Tuesday 30th August.

Tuesday night will mark the 200th competitive meeting between Falkirk and Dundee. Most of these fixtures took place in the old Scottish League Division One between 1905 and 1974. The last time the two sides faced one another in league action was in the 2013/14 season, a campaign where Falkirk went unbeaten against the Dundee side, winning three and drawing one. The last time Falkirk faced Dundee was in the Scottish Cup in 2016 and it was Dundee who progressed to the next round.

Dundee Find themselves back in the Championship this season after following a bottom placed finish on their return to the Premiership last season. Gary Bowyer’s side finished top of their Premier Sports Cup group before the beginning of the league campaign but have had mixed results in the Championship.

The Dee has won two of their five matches in the league so far. The opening weekend saw them lose three-two to Partick Thistle despite a brave comeback effort after going three goals down. Back to back wins against Raith Rovers and Arbroath looked to have got them back on track but a draw away to Morton and a loss to Ayr United at Somerset Park sees Dundee without a win in two and sitting fifth in the Championship on seven points.

The Bairns are on fine form in League One currently having won their last three games and scoring nine goals in the process. Convincing wins against Peterhead, FC Edinburgh and newly relegated Queen of the South means Falkirk are high on confidence and go into Tuesday evening’s game looking to extend their winning run to four games. They currently sit third in the League One standings with 10 points, just one point behind Airdrieonians and Dunfermline in first and second.

Falkirk FC supporters will be located in the Bob Shankly stand.
