NEXT UP: ALLOA ATHLETIC
Kick off is at 3pm, Saturday 10th September.
This Saturday will mark the 140th competitive meeting between Falkirk and Alloa and a chance for Falkirk to grab their 79th win in the fixture.
Of our three match-ups against The Wasps last season, The Bairns only managed one win, losing twice and drawing the remaining game. It is a fixture that has been tough to call for the last few years with not a lot separating the two teams. The last time one team went on a run of good results against the other was between 2014 and 2018 when The Bairns went 13 games unbeaten against Alloa.
Alloa’s season didn’t get off to a great start this season as they suffered an opening day defeat to newly relegated Dunfermline. Since then, Brian Rice’s team have picked up nine points from their last five matches with wins against Kelty Hearts, Peterhead and Alloa, scoring 14 goals in the process. They currently sit sixth in the league on 9 points.
The Bairns went into Saturday’s match against Kelty Hearts as favourites and on the back of three consecutive wins. It wasn’t to be as John Potter’s side ran out two-nil winners at New Central Park on Saturday, earning their first win of the season thanks to first half goals from Joe Cardle and Scott McGill. two losses, a draw and three wins mean Falkirk sit 5th in the standings on 10 points.
