NEXT UP: DUNFERMLINE ATHLETIC
Kick off is at 3pm, Saturday 17th September.
This Saturday will mark the 122nd competitive meeting between Falkirk and Dunfermline and it is shaping up to be an important game early in the season as we look to narrow the gap to our rivals to just one point.
It’s been a year and a half since our last derby day and over three years since our last derby day with fans. Over the course of the previous 121 meetings between the two sides, Falkirk have been the more successful side, winning 52 encounters while The Pars have won 42.
Dunfermline are currently one of just four teams in the SPFL, alongside Dumbarton, Ayr United and Celtic, who have not yet suffered defeat. The Pars top cinch League One following their string of good results since dropping down from the Championship but it’s tight at the top with only five points separating first from sixth and FC Edinburgh are nipping at Dunfermline’s heels, two points behind on 12.
Falkirk’s winning streak was ended the weekend before last when they travelled to Fife, suffering a two-nil defeat to Kelty Hearts who earned their first win of the season. With all football cancelled last weekend, Falkirk look to this weekend to bounce back with a win. They currently sit fifth in the standings on 10 points.
