Next up for The Bairns is a festive fixture as we take on Queen of the South under the lights at The Falkirk Stadium this Friday.

Kick-off is at 7:45pm, Friday 23rd December.

We prepare to face Queen of the South for the third time this season as they make their second trip of the year to The Falkirk Stadium.

The last time Queens visited the stadium, they left without any points as The Bairns ran out 3-1 winners. Callumn Morrison opened the scoring with a rocket from 30-yards, a goal that will most likely be in contention for goal of the season. Juan Alegria chipped in with the second before the half-time break. Despite the visitors getting a goal back through a penalty, the victory was sealed for Falkirk when substitute Ola Lawal scored his first professional goal.

The last time to two sides met was a similar story as The Bairns won by the same margin in Dumfries. The Bairns started strongly when Rumarn Burrell headed home on six minutes. The striker completed his brace 15 minutes later, sending Falkirk into the break two goals up. It wasn’t long before it was three. Falkirk started the second half just as brightly as they started the first, scoring just three minutes after the restart through Kai Kennedy. The hosts got a goal back just after the hour mark but it wasn’t enough as Falkirk took all three points.

Our visitors this Friday will be looking to bounce back after suffering defeat on Saturday to Kelty Hearts, who came back from a goal down to grab the win late on. An inconsistent run of form in the league means Wullie Gibson’s side sit seventh in the table on 23 points, just six behind Falkirk, showing how tight the league is this year.

The Bairns remain third in the standings with a game in hand following the cancellation of Saturday’s trip to Alloa due to adverse weather conditions. John McGlynn’s squad are looking to get their first win since midway through November when they beat FC Edinburgh. Since then, in between Scottish Cup and SPFL Trust Trophy ties, Falkirk have drawn their last two league games; one a six goal thriller against Clyde and the other a one all draw with Airdrieonians.
