Everyone at Falkirk Football Club was deeply saddened to hear about the recent passing of lifelong fan Gary Hill.

Fans are invited to applaud during the 52nd minute of tomorrow’s match against Peterhead FC to recognize a true Falkirk Bairn.

A number of Gary’s friends paid tribute:

Hilly really was a top lad. He was loyal, understanding, compassionate, selfless and funny. He loved his family, he loved his mates, and he loved our football club as much as anyone we ever knew.

Gary didn’t miss a game for many years until illness struck. From the choir at Brockville, then to Cooperage Lane, and finally to the South Stand at the new Stadium, he was an ever present in his smart jackets and trainers. He cherished nothing more than his Saturday will his mates, a few beers, (he really did drink some rotten beer mind you), and to go and watch his football team. Win, lose or draw he would be there the following Saturday from Falkirk to Stranraer, Parkhead or Tynecastle, he wouldn’t miss it for the world.

While working full time at the Sawmill he set up his own trainer restoration business. It got so much publicity he even had clients who were turning out for Falkirk’s first team on a Saturday. They no doubt got his opinion on the game the previous week and what was required in the game coming up.

The match today will be marked by a fitting fan tribute to Gary in the 52nd minute. It will be emotional for those who were really close to him and we hope the team put on a show that he would be proud of. He certainly would have loved us beating Airdrie last weekend.

All our thoughts are with his wife Clare and his daughter Molly at this very difficult time.

“You’ll never know oh how much we loved you”
