NEXT UP: STIRLING ALBION (H)
Falkirk prepare for their third League 1 game of the season as we host newly promoted Stirling Albion to The falkirk Stadium on Tuesday night in a rearranged fixture due to Stirling Albion’s Viaplay Cup match against Aberdeen.
Tuesday’s match will be the first meeting between the two teams since 2018, when the two local rivals squared off in the Betfred Scottish League Cup, with Falkirk coming away 4-1 winners thanks to goals from Nathan Austin Alex Harris, Joe McKee and Aaron Muirhead.
Over the course of history the two teams have met 92 times in competitive fixtures, with Falkirk winning on 47 occasions and losing on 22, scoring 156 goals in the process.
The Binos find themselves back in League 1 for the first time in eight years after an extremely successful 2022/23 season that saw them win the League 2 trophy. They have enjoyed a good start to their League 1 campaign so far, beating Edinburgh City on the opening weekend before getting the better of Alloa Athletic last weekend at The Indodrill. They go into Tuesday’s game in excellent form, having only lost two of their last 26 games. Dale Carrick, Stirling Albion’s talismanic striker, was a huge driving force behind his team’s success, scoring 19 league goals last season and he is already off the mark for this campaign after scoring a penalty against Alloa on Saturday.
Falkirk remain unbeaten following their first two League 1 games. John McGlynn’s side managed their first opening day home win in 20 years as they swept aside League 1 newcomers Annan Athletic. Last Saturday The Bairns travelled to Aberdeen to take on Paul Hartley’s newly relegated Cove Rangers side. It was a frustrating afternoon for Falkirk, who had to rely on Jordan Allan for a last minute equaliser, despite having been the better team for much of the game. The draw puts Falkirk third in the table with four points, just two behind Tuesday’s visitors.
