Falkirk took the lead early on with Vicky Wood scoring the opener after just seven minutes. A long ball from Erin Sludden found its way to Vicky who, with no defenders left to beat, sent the ball over the goalkeeper’s head from the edge of the box. Dundee West were quick to fight back, earning a free kick from 25 yards out. The effort on goal was spilled by Rachel Pirie but Lauren Shaw was on hand to clear the danger.
There would be another half an hour played before Falkirk scored their second goal. A corner taken by Ellie Roberts found Suzanne Wyatt in a congested box, who managed to get her foot on the ball and tap it in to double the lead, sending Falkirk into the break two goals to the good.
The start of the second half saw a few chances go Falkirk’s way but the third goal didn’t come until the 70th minute. Ellie Roberts saw Robyn O’Neill who was available in the middle of the box, passing the ball to her through the Dundee West defence. Robyn received the ball and smashed it into the middle of the net to complete the scoring.
Victory for the Bairns sees them move up to third in the SWF League 1 table, just three points away from those all-important promotion spots. With no league action this week, Falkirk next play away to Airdrie Ladies on the 18th of February. Get along if you can to support the girls as the league campaign continues!
