Next up for The Bairns is another first vs second clash as we host Hamilton Academical at the Falkirk Stadium this Saturday.

Kick-off is at 3pm, Saturday 17th February.

We get ready to face Hamilton for the third time this season with the aim of extending our lead at the top of the table to 11 points.

The Bairns go into Saturday’s game refreshed after a free Saturday last week due to a Scottish Cup fixture clash and it will be the first league game for Falkirk since the 5-0 win over Alloa Athletic two weekends ago.

The last meeting between the top two teams was a successful one for Falkirk, who put in a dominant performance at New Douglas Park, coming away with a 3-1 win thanks to goals from Callumn Morrison either side of a Calvin Miller screamer.

Despite Bonnyrigg Rose ending our 27 game unbeaten run and suffering another loss to The New Saints in the SPFL Trust Trophy two weeks later, John McGlynn’s side head into Saturday’s fixture still unbeaten in the league. The Bairns remain the only unbeaten team in the country and boast the stats of most goals scored and least goals conceded in cinch League 1.

Hamilton had a chance to close the gap to Falkirk to five points on Saturday as they hosted Annan Athletic. It was a dramatic game at New Douglas Park as the underdogs took a surprise two goal lead. The hosts fought back though and managed to level the scores thanks to an own goal and a last minute strike from Jake Davidson. Despite the 90th minute equaliser seemingly rescuing the points for Accies, Annan stunned everyone yet again with a 93rd minute winner when Josh Walker leapt the highest to loop a header into the back of the net to give Annan their first away win of the season.

It was Hamilton’s third defeat in the league this season and the loss keeps them eight points behind, while Falkirk have a game in hand to play.
